Feel your feet on the floor. Press your palms flat on a surface. Name 5 things you can see right now. Say them out loud if you can.
Anchor your senses
- Splash cold water on your face or wrists
- Chew a black peppercorn (seriously — it helps)
- Hold an ice cube in your hand
- Smell something strong: coffee, lemon, lavender
Get comfortable
- Sip cold water — focus on the temperature
- Lie down somewhere comfortable
- Put on something familiar — a show, music, a podcast
